Default transmission

Hello, I'm new to Mustang Forums. I have a question about my 2000 v6. When I push the clutch in and rev it, i hear a "whining" coming from my car. Is that a pressure plate problem? transmission problem? is there a test that i can do to know for sure what the problem is? if it is the pressure plate how much would it cost to have it replaced/fixed?
