Default trans cooler install

just got my b&m cooler for my trans and when i read the instructions, it says to route the oil throught the radiator, then into the cooler and then back to the trans. i was under the assumption that with the cooler, you elimintate the radiator from the equation.

an suggestions?

I've heard of people doing it both ways. It wouldn't hurt to run it through the radiator first and then the cooler....the more cooling the better.
I have mine running straight through the cooler and I have't had any problems and it's been that way for about a year now.

you think it would run cooler going through just the cooler or through both? i want to cool the oil as best as possible cause i have a high stall converter and a shift kit.

Running it through both will yield the best cooling. I also have a high stall converter.
Maybe I'll change mine to run through both. I'll see what other people say but like I said, I have mine only with the cooler and I'm fine.
Mine is mounted in front of my radiator but has a strong electric fan on the other side pulling lots of air through it.
The location of the tranny cooler is key.

well i got it in and all plumbed up in under an hour. i ran the sending line into the radiator like stock, then from the radiator the oil goes into the cooler then back to the trans. i mounted the cooler in the center (side to side speaking) of the condenser. the direction say its fine there. as far as virtically mounting it, its closer to the bottom. i didnt put the temp gauge in like i wanted cause its getting dark and also they didnt give me enough line.

FYI roundman, B&M recomends putting the temp. probe in the returning line, NOT the sending. they said the sending line will only give you the temp. of the oil in the converter and not in the trans.
