Default Check Engine Light, Weird Noise

Hey, I drive a 1997 Ford Mustang GT,...But Recently I've been hearing this weird noise its like a clipping noise and my check engine light has been on for the past two days...I doubt its from speeding though because I havent gone over 100 in like a few weeks..What can it be? (Another noise I hear is like a scrapping noise when I start to break really hard...Almost like metal stopping on concrete.) Any help would be great, So I dont have to pay to get it checked out.

The noise when you stop is most likely the back plate of yor brake pads rubbing the rotor. This means you need new brake pads at the least. Chances are all that rubbing has destroyed the rotors. As far as the noise from the motor. Go to an Orielys and have them run a scanner on it to pull the code. Its free and will tell you a direction to go in to begin diagnosing it. While your there pick up the brake parts. First check yours out tho.
