Default clutch problem HELP!!!

when i push the clutch pedal down i get about half way down with the pedal and then it makes a loud snapping noise and the pedal goes to the floor with no tension and it is like im not even pushing the clutch pedal in because i cannot shift into or out of gear. then when i lift my foot off the clutch the pedal comes back but as it does it makes a bunch of little clicking noises. what needs to be done to fix this and iis it easy enough to do in the driveway? luckily it happened only about a 2 or 3 miles from home and i was able to get it into 2nd gear and crawl her home in 2nd the whole way.
o yea and it is a 2000 GT
