Basic Troubleshooting Help
Pardon my ignorance, I'm not mechanically inclined...
I have an 01, V6, 3.8l ...
My car is having a hard time starting - it makes a clicking noise, and it cranks, but i have to push down the gas pedal to get it started, where I used to not have to,but once started it stays started. Correct me if Iam wrong, but this is most likely a battery issue, right?
Please help, i'd rather not take it in to a shop, if I just have to replace the battery...

RE: Basic Troubleshooting Help
Take it to an auto parts store that will check your battery for you.
Having to push on the gas pedal to get the car started isn't right either. This points to a IAC (idle air control) valve problem. This is common and can be cleaned up by using a can of carb cleaner. You use the little straw that comes with the can by sticking it between the incoming hose and the fitting on the throttle body. Then start the engine and spray away.Don't mind the smoke it's normal.

RE: Basic Troubleshooting Help
If you are having to push the gas, it is probably a fuel problem. Try changing the fuel filter-$10- and run some injector cleaner through your next tank of gas. Cleaning out your T.B would also be a good idea, like he said, but make sure you use T.B safe cleaner(like CRC), some T.B's have some coating on the inside of them. I would remove the intake tube, spray it in there, wipe out the junk with a paper towel, open the throttle balde and clean behind it, as well as the edges of the blade. You need to make sure the blade is able to close completly when at idel( no junk making it stick slightly open.)
