I have a '88 LX Conv and about $5k to spend and don't know what to buy. This car is not going to be a drag car and is not a daily driver however in the future I may do some road course racing. So far the car has a MSD ingnition coil, distributor, and wires. Also has off-road h-pipe (still has stock headers). I would like to get somewhere in the 400+ range at the rear wheels eventually. I was looking at the Holley Systemax II kit and probably using most of the parts that they reccomend with the kit which are listed with the link above. On top of that possably a 347 stroker kit. How does this sound?

Is there are better way to spend my money and get more power? Should I just get a crate motor?

The kit is $2250 from summit racing and with all the reccomended parts it is about $4000.

 

yeah i would deff put a nice ROLL CAGE in, if you are going to be doing all that!!!!!! [sm=goodidea.gif]

 

dont just waste it on a crate engine no.. build a nice solid engine with some good power (maybe 500 flywheel?) then work on the tranny to hold the power.. and a nice suspension setup. make a really nice overall car.
