Error Code 0181
Error Code 0181 (Fuel Temperature Sensor) comes on when driving home on a hot (90* to 95* Fahrenheit) afternoon and the engine is misfiring. In the cool (70* to 75* Fahrenheit) morning, there is no engine misfire and no Error Code. Where is the Fuel Temp Sensor so I can inspect it or replace it?

check this thread out. it seems there isnt actually a temp sensor for the fuel but its caused by lower fuel pressure readings and is common on 99-02 models and they fixed it for 03-04
hope this helps

I flashed thru the posts in thelink you gave me and I will go back and studythem in more detail after I write this reply.
The car (my 25 yr olddaughters ride)is a 2001, 3.8L, V6,Convertable Mustang Automatic Trans,AirCond, Electric windows, locks, mirrors, roof as well as electronic odometer.
I spotted a small sensor on whatI assumeto be the Fuel Rail... The connector has 3 wires. I copied these numbers off the sensor body. F8CF 9F972 EH 1A22B 671 PBT GF30 PPS GF40.
When I disconnected the connector, the car cranked and cranked prior to starting the first time. Normally, the car starts real easy. With the connector still off, I shut off the car and restarted several times.Theengine started instantly each time. I assumed the "Service Engine Soon" lamp would light with the connector offbut it didn't.
While driving home this evening, the car was misfiring and the "Service Engine Soon" lamp was blinking for 30 seconds and then going out for 5 minutes. The ride home is about 15 miles.
I was unable to crossor matchany of the numbers aboveusing Google.
I re-read the posts on the link you included... It jogged my memory... I remember seeing a 1/4 inch (or smaller) rigid hose coming off the back of the sensor which would agree with the pressure sensor theory. I didn't follow the rigid hose to see what it tied into. I will do that tomorrow in the day light.
