Default oil pan gasket replacement

hey guys just joined and i'm needing some help. just got my third fox, a 1990 dark metallic titanium 5 speed coupe, and its got some leakage issues. anyone got any advice about putting on a new oil pan gasket? any advice or help would be great.

You'll want to jack up the engine (remove the 2 bolts for the engine mounts) to gain clearance. You'll likely have to drop the oil pickup tube to get the pan all the way out, which isn't hard, but is tedious. Although you can definitely change the gasket with the engine in the car, you're more likely to have leaks and it may simply be easier to pull the engine out to make sure you get the gasket in properly. Plus, it's likely other gaskets are deteriorating.

Also, make sure the pan bolts are snugged down properly before deciding to change the gasket.

I just read my comment again and it kinda seems ignorant, I didn't mean it like that, i just meant get a book as my advice, will always come in handy, and lay everything out pretty much frame by frame, torque specs everything

Yes, definately get a book, or 3. Shop manuals are great resourses. Also I'd recommend using Fel Pro's 1 piece oil pan gasket
