Default need quick advice

My insurance is buying me a new hood, butI don't want to putthe same boring OEM hoodback on (planning on getting a Cobra hood). How doI go about doing this through my insurace company? Should I call the autobody place and ask to orderme the hood I want? Or should I providethe hood myselfand pocket some insurance money? Help me out. Thanks.

tell them to give you the money for the new hood. i doubt a new aftermarket hood would be fully covered though.

yeah just tell them you want the money and youll have it done yourself (they will always go oem, they wont replace things with aftermarket parts). not sure what the price difference will be, but take the money and then just buy your hood wherever. they will get a price quote from somewhere for how much it will cost them to replace the hood with an OEM one...so you could come out with a few bucks or spend a few out of your pocket.

Just tell the body shop thats what you want to do. They give the insurance company the price quote using OEM parts(which are very expensive) then an adjuster will come out to make sure that those parts really need to be replaced after he checks it out he cuts a check for the amount quoted for the oem parts, whatever parts actually get put on after that is up to you and the shop, the prices of OEM stuff and aftermarket should be pretty close
