4 banger to v8 swap?
Hello everyone,
Im looking at buying a 1993 LX 4 banger. I don't really like the fact that it is a 4 banger, but the price is extremely good. My question is how hard is it to swap a 5.0 v8 into this? Also what else on the car would need to be changed in this swap, would electronics, mounts and other things too, or would it just go right in with no problem?

well you can look around and you will find something on it with detailed instructions on it....welli know you have to change the wiring harness, trans, engine, motor mounts, rear end, and well thats it for what i know

also the cooling system, fuel system and maybe a/c and other accesories. it gonna be a lot of work. it would be easier to find a nice 5.0 but if you have the time, money, and skills its a nice project.

Thanks for the tips. I think that its a little bit more work that i would like to do. What i came up with is that hopefully i will buy this to become my daily driver then in the summer i can hopefully pick up a 5.0 to start working on.

if you want to do a swap you can do a turbo coupe swap....same hp as 5.0 but not as much torque...defintly an import eater stock and with some modifications they can be very fast...you can do the swap directly...no changing motor mounts...i think its a few pins on the wiring harness are pulled out...you need to run a few wires for the turbo...and you can use the same trans and well thats about it...nice swap for eather a daily driver or to mod and get a nice import eater with your own 4 banger

figures a fellow 4 cyl would offer the "turbocoupe" 2.3 swap advise. j/p but those gt-40 crate motors look like a nice setup, for $3k brand new 340 hp motor. if i were to buy a 5.0 engine for a daily driver thats what id do. good hp for the price especially from ford.

Don't know howold you are, thus you might be starting with the 4cyl to get a better insurance rate. I have a friend who had the T-Bird turbo coupe a few years back. SVO computer installed, etc. It rocked when things were fine. Parts wern't easy to find, so she had three other cars to pull from. After the fact, "it was fun to surprise others, but to much constant work to enjoy" . She would V8 now, and not look back.
