Engine rotate but will not start
I have a '88 mustang GT just got done rebuilding the motor and I go to start the car will not start. I had the car in storage for a year or so and didn't put any stabilizer in the fuel. The gas smells funny, so I discard the old gas and put in new 91 octane and the carstill don't start?Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
If you can have someone roll it over while you cup your hands at the exhaust pipes and can smell fuel, definitely no spark. test for spark, if there is spark, check your timing. 180 out? firing order correct and in proper rotation? Cam timing aligned properly? If using adjustable rockers, are they adjusted correctly?
If you DON'T smell fuel, fuel pump working, if you spray some starting fluid into the open throttle body and try to start it does it fire? If so you definitely are looking at a fuel distribution problem. faulty pressure regulator? Check fuel pressure at the fuel rail.
