Noise from clutch
I have a tweety bird noise coming from the clutch. It first occured under warrantee with about 30,000 miles. I took it back to the dealer about 5 times and the dealer tried to fix it....finally by replacing all of the clutch components. After about 10,000 miles the noise came back so I just let it be. Recently, I rebuilt the tranny (5 speed) and again installed all new clutch components and the noise was gone for about 12,000 miles. It is now slowly returning. If I rest my foot on the clutch pedal slightly it goes away. I remember the dealership found a tsb for the later years regarding clutch noise and the fix was adding a couterweight to the clutch cable or somewhere...and I think what it did was the same thing as resting ones foot on the clutch pedal. Has anyone found or know of a fix for this? Thanks.

RE: Noise from clutch
My replacement throwout bearing is greasable but I don't think that's the problem...besides I am not sure without looking at it but I may not be able to get to it to grease it. I am certain that it has something to do with the fingers of the pressure plate riding against the throwout bearing. It seems that when the clutch parts are new everything is ok, but as they wear the clearance changes and the noise is produced. Like I mentioned before the Ford dealership tried to fix it by adding a counterweight to the clutch fork that effectively mimicked resting ones foot on the clutch pedal. It did take care of the noise but then the clutch pedal vibrated when the engine revved up. The couterweight tsb was for a '96. I went with the tweety noise over the pedal vibration on that one.
