RE: Which tires with stock rims?
Why in the hell are you guys saying "NO"???? I have used Nitto 555R drag radials 275/40/17's for the past six months and they are great. You all need to speak from experience and not opinion. Opinions are not what people come here looking for.
This is quite possible but for the most part its B.S.! I have done several tail whips and donuts in my car with 275/40/17's and NEVER had a problem. Once again... speak from experience and not opinions.
Could you? Probably. Would you want to? Prolly not. I used to sell tires at a local automotive parts store and although the tire may fit on the rim, you run the risk of 'runout' That happens when you put tires that are too wide or too skinny for the rim width. If you were to goose the throttle on a tight turn, you could literaly run your rim out of the tire (tire folds under the rim or gets pulled off and breaks the bead on the tire) It ruins the tire, possibly your rim, and maybe even cause a spin out. Check out the link below for the size of tires that are safe to use with various rim widths.
