what I did was push the little tool in and pull outwards on the fuel line with a bit of force at the same time. Just keep trying and it will eventually come out.

You have a Saleen and you are changing your own fuel filter?? Drop the C-note and have it done.

I know what he is talking about, twist left and right as you pull out and use the tool

The way these ends work is there is a bump in the
metal gas line. There is a plastic ring with two tabs
that fit through two side slots in the fitting. Available
in kits from Advance Auto.
When you insert the line into the connector the bump
pushes past the plastic clip and once it goes past
it the clip snuggs in behind it holding it in.

You have to push the clip so that it expands out more
through the slots while pulling the line out so the
bump easilly pushes past the plastic.
