my dad used one on his honda because it was hard to start in the morning...worked pretty well.

Use synthetic oil and you won't have any cold-cranking issues.

And if you want to warm your engine, get a heater that circulates the water through the heater core and block. Leaving the car HVAC system in the defrost setting with this type of heater will help with ice scraping, too.
