Default Cost for gears

I was wondering how much gears would cost if i was to get them installed by someone else like professionaly or in a garage...also.. my dad used to have 69 camaro and had like 5.38s or something and he said he barley could drive it on like areas where the speed limit was high ... he said higher gears are more for racing and like short distances and like quarter mile.. is that true

Well you cant just say a gear will be too high for your application because you have to know what the ratios for the tranny is. What year is your car? You probably need either 4.10's or 3.73's.

A shop will charge you anywhere from $200-$400 + the cost of the gears, the master bering kit and the gear fluid which would come to about $350-$400. You dont have to do the master bering kit if your car hasnt got a lot of milage on it but if its anything over 75,000 miles then I would do it.

go wit 3.55 if u wanna drive on the highway and drag race a few times every summer..

3.73 if u wanna drag race a lot and have a lil worse gas mileage. Their still good for highway driving so dont think their the devil on the highway

4.10 are for serious drag racers and guys who dont plan on goin 140 on the highway

The guy i go to for gears has done over 300 and he only charges 200, but other shops charge 300 and up, so i guess u just gotta shop around

I'm putting in 4.10s soon and I've got 90k so I should do the master bearing replacement? I haven't heard too many people talking about doing that when they put in their gears.
