I just picked up an 83 from a friend of mine. He dyno the engine at 300hp, dynamax exaust and didnt put on headers. What is recommended and do I have to lift the engine to get headers on???

 

you have to lift the motor to put long tubes in, not for shorties and everyone on here is gonna tell you to buy long tubes but ive personally seen a car lose 20hp with long tubes so i say shorties

 

no you dont have to lift it unless you are putting on long tubes, just go with some shorties. one driver sdie just pull the dipstick and plug wires, pass side remove the airbox and MAF, then disconnect the smog stuff you will see what i mean, then its an easy fit. dont get discouraged good luck! (this is how mine was i dont know about the 83)

 

some long tubes arent that bad just a little jacking ,,slip in from bottom ,,unless you got some like mine[:@]

you can get some headman l/ts for 100 bucks ,,1 - 5/8 s mine are headman comp race headders...1 - 3/4
