Valentine 1

There will be arguements but I don't care what anyone says. The V1 is the best radar detector out there. The directional arrows tell you where the cop is and the counter can tell you if there's a cop hiding in the shade of a burglar alarm.

I have a Passport 8500 and like it just fine. The Valentine's directional arrows are also a good thing. I think the Valentine might be just a touch better.

it depends. the valentine can point out the direction its in (which i dont care, if i hear beep ing i slow down i dont care if its infront of me behind me to the left or comming a mile above) but the passport has more range (which is what i care about more)

Go to the escortwebsite and look at the new escort passport 9500i that uses GPS. It sells for around $450 though.

The reason I say that the Valentine is a touch better is that on my bike, I have a Passport 8500. A riding buddy has a Valentine. We were abreast of each other and I could hear his going off, mine was silent. Either the Passport is more discriminating or the Valentine is more sensitive.
Today I was making a turn and merging and I got Ka full scale suddenly. Obviously a cop nearby. I was looking around all over the place and saw nothing. It would have been nice to know what direction it was coming from.
I often times get on it a little in that very spot. The radar hit me just before I would have stepped on it, so I just continued on as "normal". A situation like this is where the detector pays for itself. Speed limit of 40 and I can do 55-60 real easy.
