It is called Mystic Chrome. A buddy of mine in the Magic City Mustang Club has an 04 Mystic Chrome Cobra.

 

Nah, mystichrome is the name of the color.


It's bad ***, but really expensive and from what I understand, you can't just touch up the paint on the car if need be. It looks good on stangs for sure, but I've seen it on some other cars and it looks weird. Just too flashy for a normal 4 door coupe or something.

 

Mystichrome Cobra... I saw one at the 100th Ford anniversary celebration in Dearborn... it was AWESOME... The last one that Ford did was in '96, but it was called the Mystic Cobra.

$4,000, no way, not for a decent job anyway. That pearlescent color-change paint (aka chameleon) is extremely expensive and very time-consuming to apply. It takes a real professional to put it on right. It's not a simple paint job because it's at least 3 layers (maybe 4, can't remember) of material. It's a very involved job which is why it costs so much. If you want a really nice chameleon paint job it will cost you in the neighborhood of $8,000 at a quality shop.
