no power to soilnoid

i have no power going to my soiloing...when i turn the key on every thing works..lights.radio, head lights..etc...but it will not turn over...i checked with a test light at the soilnoid and the wire has no power..i can jump the soilnoid with a wire and it turns over..does any one know what is the problem?

replace the solenoid. Im guessing youre talking about the starter solenoid. Think about what youre saying real quick. You can jump it so you know you have power going TO it. Now you only need the solenoid to do its job and switch it. So if you can jump it. Then its bad. Replace the solenoid.

or the ignition switch or ignition module could be bad

but i can have a friend hold the key to start position and i use a test light and touch the wire and it has no power

got it fixed...i guess there was a break in wire some where between the switch and soilnod so i put in a new wire and it works..thank for the help..

sounds like a bad ignition switch or circuit to me if you don't have power to it with the key in the start position.

I have had a few problems with ignition switches, but on the 88+ Foxes. There was a recall too... Also problems with tilt steering, wires would rub and break.
