Default Rear axel lube

Will it hurt anything to replace the 75W90 gear oil with 75W140 in my '85 Mustang GT with limited slip?

Not really sure about the viscosity issue, but the friction aditive for the limited slip is a must.

speaking of the friction additive, what's the difference between the Ford additive XL-7 and XL-3? I know I should use the XL-3 in my '06 GT, but what about my '85 GT?
