Roundman, what do you have done to the car to allow it to spin that high in the RPM's?
nothing except for headers and a chip, the rest of the motor is bone stock and 6,200 is not too high as it just does get there right at the finish line and I lift off the gas right as I cross the line. I went to the taller slicks both for the width and to stay in the other gears a bit longer before I shift plus I was looking to the future and my new engine which I'm sure will rev higher than stock easily.

And lucky, you don't have to worry about shifting into 4th (OD) with your AOD. the AOD will not shift into OD at WOT, you have to lift off the gas a bit to make it shift into OD when you're at WOT then get back on the gas after it shifts.

NO, YOU WON'T HAVE TO RUN INTO 4TH GEAR WITH 3.73's AT THE TRACK. I DIDN'T WITH STOCK HEIGHT TIRES(SLICKS).

Well then I have a question for you Roundman..

How high should I take my RPM to gain peak performance.. My mods are: BBK CAI, BBK 70MM TB & spacer, Trick Flow Street Intake up/low, Crane 1.7 Rollers on the stock cam, Cobra Clutch, MSD TFI coil, BBK Shorty Headers, Headman O/R H-pipe, American Thunder Cat Back, and 4.10's

I run with stock height 26" tall street tires until I can get slicks... With where I shift now I am deep into 4th gear at the end of the track (5-spd), I pulled off a 14.9 before the intake, rockers, and TB, shifting at about 5k... Should I take it higher now?? And what are you expecting my turn-out to be the next trip down the 1320, as you guessed right on the money the last time I asked you?

Thanks Roundman, sorry it is so long!

Hey 91hatchgt:you ran 14.9 with those mods. I have less mods and I ran 14.6 with a buddy in the car. the best with me by my self is 14.4, I have 4.10s, subframes,CAI,lower control arms, baiscly, I need to run to see with the new 70mm TB and 73mm MAF, and see how much I gain from those.Im hoping for 14.0 or so.

you should be shifting at a higher rpm than 5,000, probably around 5,500 or more is my guess. the stock 5.0 peaks out at about 5,300, so with your mods you should be able to take it a little bit higher before you shift. you should be able to tell when the engine is peaked out and then right before it does, shift to the next gear before the engine noses over. it's a seat of the pants feel that you can develop with some practice and once you figure out the right shift point then shift at that point every time for the most consistent times.
you might be in the 14.5 second range or a bit better with those mods if you shift a the right power peak point.

That's a god time a 14.4 ... It is because of the track I run at.. LACR is terrible..

Roundman, I was told the stock cam peaked at about 4700-4900..... I will attempt taking it to 5500 next trip to the track, it seems to pull nicely now through 5200 Easily. I guess I need to wait for it to warm up a little, and that way I can get a bunch of runs in. 14.5 huh.. Sounds good.. I won't let you down Roundman! Thanks
