Default P0171 OBD CODE

Hey all. I just receive a OBD II code of p0171. I look it up and most people say it's either a vaccum leak from the MAF to the thorttle body. Autozone tole me that the MAF could be dirty and need cleaning, but I decided to change it out and my 94 v6 mustang is still having lack of power during take off at times. Oh and the engine act like it wants to shut off when I idle. Could there be a chance the air filter could be dirty and need to be replace or cleaned really good? Help please. Thanks!

Default RE: P0171 OBD CODE

Sounds like a vacuum leak.

Best way to isolate one is to take a propane torch, unlit, but on. Turn the car on, and take your propane, moving it around the vacuum lines, and whatnot. If the engine spikes in RPM at all, you found your leak. You can do it with starting fluid (ether) too, but it makes a mess, and could cause a fire.
