Chime at startup
I haven't been on here in a really long time, but I'm hoping someone can help me out.
My car's been making a chime when I first turn it on. I don't have to start the engine for it to make the noise either. It doesn't sound anything like the seatbelt chime, the lights on chime, or the key-in-ignition chime. Itbeeps 3 times at a slow interval, andafter a long pause, it repeats. It's not loud, and after doing this several times it goes away.Oh and I already used the search function and couldn't find any issues like this. Does anyone know what this means?
Thanks

That doesn't sound like anything stock.. Did you buy your car used? Someone before you must have stuck in something aftermarket.
Can't you stick your head under the dash while it's making the noise & pinpoint the soundlocation?

Yeah I bought it used with all the mods already on it. But I've already had this car for almost 2 years now. It just started making this noiseabout aweek ago. It's kind of hard to pin point the source but it almost sounds like it's coming from inside the dash. It's not very loud like I said.
Oh and I looked at the owner's manualwhich didn't mention or describe anything like this. I'm really curious to find and fix this, but I don't want to take it to a shop which will probably charge me a lot to diagnose it.
Sorry, another thought just popped into my mind.I have anaftermarket non-catted X pipewith theO2 sensor plugs. The part where the X pipe connects to the exhaust manifold flange is slightly leaking. Could this chime be the O2 sensor even if the check engine light is not on?

I don't think O2 sensors make any type of noises. My guess is the previous owner has something aftermarket in place that got jarred loose. Try removing the part of the dash where the noise is coming from.
