Default Xpipe vs. Hpipe

Hey folks, I’ve tried to do some research on the topic but haven’t come up with much. Can someone help me understand the differences between an Xpipe and an Hpipe (other than shape) and how much they really enhance performance? Also, does one provide more performance over the other?

Thanks!

Sound is a big difference. x pipe being louder, rapsy. H pipe having a deeper sound, rumble. H pipe would be close to a old school muscle car sound. You have an s197? If so don't worry about performance. Just do it for the sound. I have an 06 gt with an o/r h and stingers. I can feel lost torque down low since the change to the o/r. That smell always lurks around too. Just for performance - the x pipe would be the better choice for a very little gain. Be sure you choose a good selection of muffler when pairing up the too. Some midpipes and axlebacks just don't mix well. If you have any ?s pm me. I installed my own.

H Pipe- Deep, throaty sound. More low end torque.

X Pipe- Loud, raspy sound. More high end torque.

Very little horsepower differences between the two midpipes. Not even noticeable.
