Ok my first problem post since joining
I just bought a 98gt and the problem that i have is when i try and switch the car out of gear the shifter is very hard to get out of park. The car is an auto by the way. I have to really push the release button in very hard and pull on the shifter to get it out of gear. after its out of gear it moves fine. any ideas what could be wrong and how to fix it? thanks in advance.
If you've parked against a parking brick, etc., or anything that would be pushing your car slightly backward and is only stopped from going back by your transmission when you put it in park, then the gear will have resistance, and therefore it will be tough to overcome the resistance. This is what the parking brake for. Also, avoid parking too close to the parking bricks (or cement slabs that mark parking slots in lots). Does this help?
