That is very inaccurate... A K&N in the box will yeild the same performance as a CAI... I have heard of many people accutally getting better performance out of the stock box... I would rather save the money and go with the K&N... I will try and find the article which actually states that the made better power on the dyno with the stock box... I will def. have to find it for you guys.. The HP rating is not going to determine how much air the engine needs.. The only thing that is going to determine the need for more air is the parts that you have such as heads, cam, intake..

yea but something like a bbk cai is better it auctly helps it breath better, ide say cai and exhaust
i can think of a couple free mods: get rid of your smog pump and all the lines, and remove the air silencer. don't get a cai. put a K&N filter into the stock airbox. if you remove the box you can see that you can cut more of the fenderwell out to get more air into the airbox. another way to get more power is to bump up the timing to 14* and than run 91-93 octane.
