9 inch is stronger, but doesn't have as much aftermarket support. it is also overkill if you aren't running 500 hp with sticky tires and regularly dump the clutch at 5k. a well built 8.8 will last quite some time. how much hp are you putting to the ground?

9" Ford rears don't have as much aftermarket support??? You've got to be kidding, right?? There are more 9" Ford rears used in all kinds of race cars than just about any other rear there is out there and the parts available for them are damn near endless too. You can get a much larger selection of gears for a 9" compared to an 8.8 also since they are used in all types of racing from drag to sprints to NASCAR and others. I do agree you don't need one if all you want is 300 HP.

Should I buy a new 8.8 or get one from a junk yard or something. And what about the rear disc conversion?

I would fotget the disc brakes on the back. They are a waste of time and money. I have them on my car because they came with my 9in. rearend.

Was about to say the SAME thing
Well not as detailed, but around something like that[&:]

Well, you can't go wrong with the Ford9".

You say you only want 300hp now, but what about when you get bored of that?
