engine swapping
i was wanting to put a 2001 SVT cobra engine in a 1998 mustang but i was wondering if there was any other modifications that i need to do when putting it in or if everything should just hook up? One of the main things i was goin to do was at least change the speedometer to match the engine speed and RPM's but do I need to get anything extra to hook it up or change anything with computer? if anybody knows please let me know because i have seen a 2001 engine in a 98 model i just dont know absolutely everything i'd have to do
Ummm .... sure. It's easy. It's cheap. Everything will fit. You'll be amazed why everyone isn't doing this.
Oh, wait, that was the meds talkin'. If you're a V-6 owner, don't even go there. You'll have to change out so much that your wallet will burst, your head will ache & you'll wish you had extra bus tokens. I've done this a few times (V-8 swap for 6 or 4-bangers) and it's never pretty. Unless you have lots of time, money, patience, and friends to help troubleshoot when everything goes wrong ... don't even start down this road.
Back away from the magazine rack & walk towards the light.
