Default 4.10 Gears are in!

Ok I slapped them in last night. Had no problems, it was a 3 hour job in the garage. The worst part was getting the old pinion gear out. It was, to say the least, a major biatch. The hand-held hammer didnt do a thing on this one. I had to break out the heavy duty sledgehammer, you know those ones that almost come up to your waste with the 5 lb end? Yea well I *was* gonna re-sell the old 3.27's but forget about it now, the pinion threads are totally mushroom shaped now. It took all I could to hit it as hard as I could, and 10 minutes of beating on it later it finally came out. If you have an air hammer, it would be much easier. Also, my damn impact gun went out *****. Overall I don't know why I had such difficulty with that pinion, but everything else went smooth and easy. I didn't have to worry with getting the bearing off and on the pionion, since vfast sent me a pinion with the bearing already on it shimmed just like my old one.

Bah what a biatch that pinion was.

Ive done a few of the late 90's early 2000's ring and pinions and it seems like they press the front pinion bearing on the pinion shaft, the older ones you could slide the front bearing on and off the pinion shaft real easy, now you have to beat it out of the axle and hammer it back in.They must have changed to an interfearance fit.
