Service and repair manuals...which ones
I am trying to figure out what would be the best service or shop manual for my 2001 GT. I am aware of Haynes and Chilton and also the Ford product (expensive).
I see on ebay there are DVD and/or CD's of shop manuals for both Mustang and all Ford lines, and they are relatively cheap ($15 shipped). Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone bought one of these and are they worth it? What about the Haynes and Chilton manuals...is one better than the other?
Thanks

I would buy the hard copy manuals if for no other reason than being able to have them at your side while actually doing the work.Pictures and diagrams are worth mountains of gold when trying to remember the tightening sequence on the cam chain cover or other parts using multiple fasteners. You could print from the CD's but ink costs money and I'm a cheapskate.Another caveat, what if the CD is carrying a virus or spyware?
In short, the paper manuals combined with the fine people on these forums can get you through just about any problem you might have.

the chilton and hayes manuals are ok, but they are so general. i had a chilton for awhile and was unhappy with it. i bought the ford manual and the content of the manual is awesome. i would highly recommend throwing down the extra cash for the ford manual.
