Default Massive weight reduction!

Ok so how fast would a 2.3 liter mustang be if you stripped it to the frame, And other things like this guy did http://www.montac.com/mustang/weight.htmI'm just wondering (bored) He claims for every 6 pounds it's like adding an other 1 hp, by being lighter. For every 100 pounds you lose you will be .1 seconds faster in the 1/4 I heard, never heard of the 6lbs is equal to 1hp thing.

why not strip an old 5.0L to the frame and add rollbars to it and make a rally car, that thing would fly!

Generally, 100 lbs=1/10=10 or so horsepower.

However, reducing weight in the rims is sooo much better than the body.

Shaving 36 pounds from rims is like removing 108 or so pounds from the body (the rims act like giant heavy flywheels basically).

The lighter the car, the faster it will be with less power, and the less you'll break stuff.

jeep is on the right track..you want the get rid of as much "unsprung wieght" as possible....also rotating mass such as flywheel, drive shaft, pulleys,ac,ps,also going with lighter tires, putting a fiberglass hood, taking off the bumper brace.etc....adding a turbo would be the ticket..there is one on e-bay for around 400 buck

just took a look at that page....alot of undo work imo the car will have no resale value and not very comfortable to drive..unless will be on the stip..inwhich tubalur frame parts work help net big losses of wieght.
just racing with 2-3 gallons of gas will net over 75+ pound loss over a full tank..it would have been easier to cut off the front end and put a tubalur one on which would save several 100 pounds and make the car react so much quicker in the 1/4 mile or auto cross
