Check Engine Light and Engine Reving

Check Engine Light and Engine Reving
I have a 2001 v6 3.8 Liter (manual transmission) with the "Service Engine Soon" light on, and it's RPMs are now increasing on their own when I put it in neutral.
I was told the light indicated "Bank 1" "Cat converter not at efficiency", and that it was likely an O2 sensor gone bad. But upon getting under the car, we found it has 4 O2 sensors, and have no idea which one it is.
We were also told that the cause of the light and / or cause of the RPM increasing may not be O2 sensors at all, that it may be a loose vacuum line.
Anyone have any idea on what might be the cause of the engine light and the RPM increasing. I don't even know for sure if their related??
Thanks!

02 sensors have nothing to do with how the car runs. it just tells you that your cats (or 02 sensors) are screwed up. you can either replace your 02 sensors or just put mil elims on (30$ or make your own for 5 bucks) and that will get rid of that problem.

u can check the o2 sensors w a ohm meter. u can get those at autozone or checkers. it will tell you what the meter should read on at the autozone website when you look up the sensor, and it tells u how to test it. i dont think that is causing your problem though. prob something to do w the emmisions on the car, maybe egr valve, pcv valve possibly.
