Default 1989 Gt Conv. Question

Hey guys, I am new to the mustang forum and am looking at an 89 GT right now. The body is in god shape, but the interior needs some work done to it. Eveything is completely stock. Car is painted silver with a new top. 5 spd manuel that was rebuilt last summer, clutch is good and engine runs fine.

I was wondering how a convertible would compare to a hatchback reguarding exhaust, suspension and frame modifications. I know that in most cars the roof provides some intergerity, but with a conv. since there is no roof the auto makers make up for the lose intergerity by adding frame supports, etc.Would these extra supports get in the way of anything?

My plans are to drop a 347 into it and maybe put in a cage. the 347 is almost complete. it just needs the ignition, oil pump/pan and headers. My next question is... My engine is out of a 95 f-150. would i have any problems bolting that into the 89 stang. I should have researched this a little bit better before i started, but i was 18 at the time. I tried doing some forum searches on the 89's and convertibles, etc. I just know some basic things about the 89's since my dad had one and just recently sold it.

Sorry this is so long, but thanks in advance.
Brad

all the exhaust and suspension parts will be the same as a hatch and your motor should go right in with the proper pan and mounts

Thanks for the info, i ended up getting a 92 lx Hatchback 5.0 for a little bit more. The interior and body are in really nice shape, couple dings, but its been all garage kept. Its a 4spd auto with a shift kit in and has a bbk full exhaust with flowmasters on it and an MSD ingition. Plus all new stero and speakers. The guy needed to get rid of it so I got it pretty cheap.

Man those autos are slow. Here are some pics at the guys house.

I am going to be redoing the trans again and putting in a stall. The rear end is also going to be swapped, i just need to find a good ones to use. I was thinking of the explorer 8.8 witht he 3.73 since it already has disc brakes and is the same size as a ranger.
