Default What fox weighs the least? Any experience?

Alright, I have been looking for a good topic on this and haven't been able to find one, so I decided to make my own. My next project HAS to be an 87-93 Fox. Most likely an 89-93 Fox. I am looking at a $200 4 cyl auto notchback with an exceptional body and shot everything else. I've also seen some cheap verts kicking around. Although I have only ever owned hatchbacks. This is going to be my be all end all drag car and I want it as light as possible. Although I don't like verts, in the end it probably won't have a top on it. Just a cage. I don't particularly care about the factory wiring and computer and **** because I know most of it inside and out already and a lot will be replaced anyway. In fact, I highly doubt that I will even be able to run fuel injection efficiently in the end. I want to get started by mid summer after shopping around a bit and saving up a little cash. I know there are some die hard Fox guys on this site, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this topic. Again, I will say that I don't plan on having this car road legal and may never even register it. I just want the lightest Fox I can build. Hope to get some results, or at least get pointed in the right direction. Thanks.

im pretty sure the notch is going to be the lightest of them all, even if you take the vert top/motor out. the vert may weigh less at that point, but the amount of weight you are going to have to add to get the suspension as solid as a coupe is going to offset that weight difference.

despite how it may look verts actually weight much more. Because their is not top their has to be much more structure supports to stop twisting/to protect in a rollover. A 4cyl notch is by far the best way to go not only is it the lightest but the body is also the strongest, i have actually seen some hatchback cars that the quarter panels have wrinkled from hard launches

I plan on a fully welded cage, sub frame connectors, the whole nine yards. I'm not in any hurry to put this puppy on the road. I will eventually get it to not twist on launch. I really like the hatchbacks though. I have been trying to find a reliable factory curb weight web site, but haven't had much luck. A buddy of mine suggested taking my car down to a truck scale at the local dump, but I don't know how accurate that is. I think I posted this in the wrong spot though, I'm gonna try and move it to the 5.0 section. My bad.
