Default engine light question.

Just took out factory air box, the mesh screen to factory MAF and have a K&N running straight into the MAF. Drove for two days and fine. Today I took up the slack in my throttle cable and upon driving my check engine light is coming on. I am not sure what the problem is, I checked several times and the cable is not too short and is not sticking at all, very smooth actually. I also am not inclined to think its an o2 rate or flow issue due to the fact it was fine for 2 days after making the changes. It is an 04 GT 4.6 SOHC. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance.

It depends. If the flow is not laminer enough you can run into eddies of flow that will read incorectly across the sensor wires. But why guess. Get it scanned and get a code.

You can check codes yourself

Those are all body codes. Not PCM codes. There is no way to retrive PCM codes on an OBDII system without a scanner. Autozone can scan it for free.

Default RE: engine light question.

thanks for all the help guys, using some of the things I've read in these forums, I just disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected letting the car idle for a while and it appears to have solved the problem. The computer appears to have reset the air to fuel ratio and adjusted it for the added air flow. The idle has increased slightly to about 900 RPM's and the car sounds great. Thanks again.
