Default Rims..

OK I don't know much about rims, or anything at all really, but here goes:
My dad had a Bronco II back in the day and he bought Crager Mag chrome rims for it. When he sold the car he kept the rims because they were really nice, really expensive, and he wanted to use them on a future car. However, apparently the rim type has changed (?) since then and break calipers stick out too much now, so the rims won't fit on any car?? Something like that is what he said; he tried fitting the rims onto a Probe Gt, no luck, tried on a Dodge Dakota, no luck..

Was just wondering, is there any type of adapter or something I could get to allow the rims to fit onto a Mustang??

Can you try to describe the problem a little better?

The way my dad described it to me is this:

"new rims", as he put it (the ones on the Probe), wrap around the rotor and brakes and everything, whereas his Cragar Mags, "old rims", don't. He said that the brake calipers are sticking out too much on the Probe (and we assume the 'Stang, haven't tried them out yet, though.. I will next time I go home) and the rim simply will not fit. By that description I assumed if I could find some type of spacer or something that possibly the rims would fit??

there are a several reasons why the wheels might not fit.
1 - wheel diameter not large enough for the disk brakes used on the car
2 - wheel backspacing not deep enough for the brakes to clear the wheels
3 - wheel design just won't clear
the backspacing on a wheel is the distance between the straight line between the edges of the wheel and the back side of the wheel flange. the wheel offset is the same measurement but made on the front side of the wheel.
only real way to tell is to test fit the wheel on the Stang. they do make wheel spacers to increase the backspacing but I don't recommend them as they can shift the load on the bearings causing premature wear out of the wheel bearings.

Awesome, thanks.
Yeah, I'm just gonna try 'em out when I get home.. hopefully they fit, cuz they sure are wicked nice and it'd definitely be unique.
