shifter knob

i have 90 mustang..manual and i can't get the shifter **** off..it wont twist or pull?? any help would be appreciated.

if it's the stock ****, it should just twist off counter-clockwise
if it's aftermarket, it might have a couple of set screws holding it

it must not be stock then..cuz i can get it really loose but somethings holding it on...

it looks like the bottom of the **** should twist off and then there should be some set screws holding it on.

im pretty sure thats all one peice it dont look like would unscrew there...
