Default SN95 or New Edge?

Ok. So I have gotten a lot of mixed responses about this and I am curious why. I found an SN95 with full exhaust and Cold Air Intake. Its a 94 gt blue manual with cloth interior. It has a airbag light and needs rear suspension. Has Mach 1 wheels and new tires plusa cobra hood. Car has 147,000 miles on it. Seller was asking 3500, got him to 3000 so far. But, to make it worse, he wont smog it because it wont pass, has FULL exhuast, no cats. Sounds real nice though. So I would have to buy cats and have them installed plus try and see if it would pass smog. Has no CEL's though. On the other hand. I found a 99 GT manual with silver with tan leather. It has 114000, but has 5k on a new engine. It has a bunch of scratches and a decent dent or two. Car has a CEL and a coolant light on, but seller swears that when the engine was put in its because the codes were never cleared and has run fine. New suspension, new brakes, new timing chain, has a few billet pieces on interior.Needs tires though. I saw it run, sounds good. She wanted 5,000, got her to 4,000. Which do you gys think is the better deal? I would think the 99, its more mechanically sound, I can add exhaust. Its faster than the 5.0. But the SN95 is modded and is easier to modify. The pics are from the sn95. I dont have pics avail from the New Edge. Advice?

More potential is probably the new edge, but the 5.0 is so cheap to mod just get that. H/C/I I hear will put you over 300rwhp with a supporting mod or 2, not to mention youcouldsee probably over 350 w/full exhaust, cai, maf,tb, and a tune. You want more than that, you would need to supercharge, but you would have to supercharge a new edge to see over 360rwhp anyway. And 5.0's are lighter, I'dgofox body over the car your looking at since I like that look better, just my opinion.

ok. I remember reading in a sticky that those bolt ons do not nearly get you to 350 hp...Maybe crank hp on a new engine. But, maybe Im wrong.

Just the "94-04 Mustangs are all SN95 cars" comment to start...

But as for which car, the CEL lights on the '99 would scare me. Why did it need a motor swap? How badly do you have to beat a "newer" car to need a motor swap. Probably more about to fail on it.If it did need the swap, why was it done wrong?? If it was right, the lights would be off.

Cats are easy to insall. I'd go with the '94 and keep extra $$$ in my pocket.

It had a major coolant leak...somewhere. It blew the engine. Her dad replaced the engine but did not have a code scanner to clear the code. She has just been driving it like that. I'm going to take it to a friend of mine with a code checker with either car to have the codes checked. If its an actual code, clearing it will not get rid of it. It will pop back up next time starting it when the computer pulls a check on the system. Either that, or it's a soft code which usually isn't immediately dangerous, just says something is possibly failing or out of parameters.

Id get the 94. The new edge might be faster now, but the 5.0 has more potential and is going to cost a lot less to mod. Plus the 99 sounds like it had/has major issues

94 sounds like it has less headaches to fix. The air bag might be a code that it lost power which is prety easy to fix by jumping pins at the right time.
I'd be weary about the 99 with all the codes poping out. If her dad didnt go about clearing the codes it doesnt mean he did hte motor right.
