5.0 or 4.6
I am thinking about buying a mustang and I am wondering which engine is the most cost effective to build. I am sick of dumping money into my powerstroke when I can only go so far before I cannot tow with it any more. Any info would be appreciated.

RE: 5.0 or 4.6
5.0 is better if you're planning a lot of mods
4.6 PI is better if you're keeping it mostly stock, or just sticking to simple bolt-ons |
RE: 5.0 or 4.6
Probably 4.6L, rebuild thetop endandthrow a supercharger on with some juice.

RE: 5.0 or 4.6
5.0's are cheaper to mod and react very well to heads/cam/intake and stroker's.
4.6's are a good amount more expensive and are better for supercharging. |
RE: 5.0 or 4.6
4.6 2v is a nice quick car that will keep you satisfied for a while
4.6 3v is even nicer and responds very well to mods 4.6 4v is the ****! 5.0 is more of an all out engine than anything |
RE: 5.0 or 4.6
5.0 are pretty easy to mod, and hold together until you start really juicing them. and there are a lot of tried and true quality products for them that are very affordable. You can very easily build a nice street car on a budget.

5.0

I was leaning twards the 5.0 and you all have confermed it. Now what body style? Early 90 or mid?

RE: 5.0 or 4.6
i like the hatch over the notch myself. notch looks funny to me (but it is lighter than the hatch). theres the 94-95 gt's that are 5.0 too but thats heavier than a hatch (nicer interior and stuff too tho)
5.0 has cheaper parts. 4.6 2v doesnt respond too well to boltons. but they take very well to F/I. full boltons will net you 260ish rwhp with a 2v. heads and cams somewhere around 300 depending how aggressive you go. and by the time you've bought all that you could have slapped a blower on it and had 350-400rwhp. what exactly do you mean by 'build the motor'? |
RE: 5.0 or 4.6
The debate between which is a better engine can go on for damn near forever, as we're showing on the other forum i'm on. I think in the past week there have been two 4-5 page threads on this. Both engines have their positives and negatives and depending what you're looking for you have to choose accordingly.
