Okay before everyone freaks out I should explain what your looking at. This is inside the middle driver side freeze plug on a 1971 460. After banging out the freeze plugs I noticed a steel like wire inside, i tried ripping it out while I was yanking the freeze plug loose and broke it in half, their is another one in the middle passenger freeze plug. My main concern is what is it? It can't be important can it? Why would this be here behind a freeze plug? I'm sure this is a stupid beginner question, but I'm gonna be dumping alot of time and money into this block and I need it to be perfect. Its being sent out to be hot tanked on tuesday and I'd like to know what this is before spending any money. Oh and I apologize for the poor picture, my phone isn't the best.

By the way, does anyone know any companies that make kits for sqweezing in big blocks into fox bodies?

Yeah I know the picture really sucks so I added another equally as bad. You can see on the bottom left one half of the wire.

But is there any reason to be a steel wire behind a freeze plug?

Is it a wire or an oil line?

 

Its like a bike spoke, its completely solid like nothing can go through it but its hard to bend.I've asked my friends and they've never seen anything like it
