synthetic engine oil
I wanted to know more about synthetic oil. I have a mustang V6 1995 and it has 227 000 Kms. I was told that putting synthetic oil in would be a waste of money. Why that? And i've been told to not put synthetic oil in new engines before about 5000miles. The best thing for high mileage motor is normal engine oil with additives. Is that true? Anyone that knows more about synthetic oils I would appreciate to know more about.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Was it someone here whotold you putting synthetic oil in your car is a waste of money? Ask the person who said it what he meant..?
Google will give you a TON of info on sythetic oils including charts & graphs that'll make you dizzy.
Regular oil "will work" it's been working fine for a century. Synthetics work better in extreme conditions such as extreme temperatures or in higly stressed engine applicaions. If you're just daily driving your car then you don't "need it"

He probably ment that cause your motor may be coming up for a rebuild soon depending how bad the motor was ridden.
For the 5000 miled on a motor:
The person probably ment not to put it in till the motor is done with it's breakin period. I had a friend put in synthetic oil right after he rebuilt his motor. needless to say he had problems with the motor and had to rebuilt it again and used reg oil for the break in period that time.
