what do they mean when referring to heads as 'shimmed for a decked block'? thanks.

Using something to get the valves back up to the height they were at before any work was done to the heads. Usually a thicker head gasket is used.

Tis to get valve clearance back up to OEM status if you've had your block/heads machined, so you don't break anything.

Why would you deck a block and then use a thicker head gasket? Wouldn't the clearance be the same because the piston needs to be modified to be flush with the block at top? I figured that they were shimming the rockers to use the same pushrod, but I don't know. If you shave off the heads I can see that, but this is for a decked block.

never heard that term used before so I don't have a clue what it really means.
it might be referring to the machining done to the intake manifold when the block is decked a lot to keep the intake ports aligned but that is just a guess on my part.
