Default got cold air intake? read for more horses!

so getting a cold air intake will help you get some extra power but it doesnt just stop there. after you install your air intake do these cheap simple little mods to help your car breath just a little better.
1. use pipe insolation sold in any hardware pluming section to build up a wall where the metal wall on your intake stops. kinda hard to picture but what you want to do is block almost all the hot air from the engine getting to your cold air intake. in my pictures you can kinda see where i added foam on top of the metal wall. but you cant see it all the well.
2. get strong rubber tubing and run it from under your car through the inside of the side panel and up to next to your air intake. it will act like a small ram air. as you drive air will get pushed through the tubing thn the intake will suck it up.

those 2 things arnt going to get you the gains that a real ram air will get you but at least you will know that your getting every last bit of power from your cold air.

wont running rubber tubing from under your car straight to your CAI gonna clog the filter up with dirt, trash, water, etc alot faster and ultimately hinder performance due to poor air flow? Just a thought

CAI's dont get you a whole lot of extra HP,, maybe 3-5. Most people stick one on more for the neat-o bling cool factor, & wrapping the thing in insulation is gonna defeat that purpose.

..but you are right in that insulating engine heat from the intake air is a good idea. If you REALLY want the most effective CAI available you should't buy one with a metal tube in the first place. Get one witha plastic tube
