Catback kit or custom exhaust?
Which way to go? The price of a catback kit like the Magnaflow is about $650CDN + installation if I opt to have it installed at a garage..
But then I talk to some muffler shops & they say they can install a scratch built system (cat back) WITH Magnaflow mufflers for about the same price as the kit..
WTF? [&:] So long as the shop does a good job with the piping (mandrel bent etc).. why should I spend more on a kit that I still need to get installed? Would a kit be somehow better?

I'd go with a Catback and bolt it in yourself. For one you can change it in the future if you dont like it or whatever other than having it all welded into place. Also Magnaflow has a good name for themselves ....a custom Catback from a standard muffler shop wont compare in quality or sound.
Thanks for the info guys
Yea the shop doing the work needs to be reputable, I'm going to go see one in a couple days just to check them out, they're a specialty shop that makes custom exhaust for a living.
Really though,, pipe is pipe. As long as they use good quality stuff & install it properly for LESS than the cost of an uninstalledcatback kit,,, well I'm just trying to figure out the logic in that.

Yea I agree it's fun to install stuff yourself, but kinda more fun if that means I'm saving money by doing it myself
kinda dumb to pay extra for more work lol. BTW, have you guys installed a catback in a driveway, just using jackstands & a hacksaw to cut the old pipe? How much of a PITA is it with such little clearance to work on?

i have heard of some people bolting the kits up, and they dont fit at all... like its was a badly built kit. So if you can find a good one, get a kit, doit yourself
