the other day my car just randomly wouldn't start. i tried it and it spun really slow/weak and made a funny noise. now it just clicks. is it even worth trying to replace the starter solenoid or is it pretty sure that it's the actual starter?

 

Won't take much to change the solonoid, go ahead and give it a try. Clean up all the wires on the starter too....

 

solenoid did nothing, we cleaned the battery also as it had some corrosion on it. next step is to figure out the problem with the starter.

 

I know this is obvious but did you check the battery? A weak battery will cause the clicking sound you hear.

 

everything worked fine when in the on position, electric fan, radio, lights, etc, so i'm pretty sure the battery had a charge. i had to push start it to get it home and let out the clutch and it ran. it's not the battery

 

it must be something with the starter if you can bump start it. You know the engine will turn
