Lucas Oil Stabilizer
I just bought some to help get rid of my engine knock. I think it's a lifters but I'm not sure. I'm really hoping this works. I was going to try the mystery oil but was recommended this at autozone so I'll try it.
Anybody have any luck with this or did something else to fix the knock?

RE: Lucas Oil Stabilizer
its just going to prolong the problem....sorry to break the bad news. no additive is going to make anything run better for a long period of time. their is clearance between every rotating peice in a motor. or tranny and rearend for that matter. dont waist your money on lucas. make sure its not a spun bearing noise. if its just a knock,, take off the valve cover and see if you find play in any of the rockers. some will have play due to the stroke differnece. but when you grab a loose one youll know. trust me. if not take it to a proffesional to get them adjusted.

i would actually fix the problem, or find out what it is to make sure its not gonna be bad if left alone.. When i got my car the guy said it had a slight knocking noise, but we pulled the engine and took it apart, the main bearings were completely shot, piston with a hole in it, and everything was in horrible condition. So find out what is causing the problem

My power steering rack was leaking fluid from a shot seal. I used Lucas power steering additive & sure enough it stopped the leak,, for almost a year lol
After that I still needed to fix the problem, but it bought me a year lol

I have a 1990 Ranger with a 4.0 that has a valve tap. I've tried the Lucas, and many other additives hoping to quiet the lifter. Nothing has helped. Like many other's have said the only real way to get rid of the tap is to fix it. I have elected not to fix it on my truck since it has 250,000 miles on it. The tap goes away when the engine is warm. If you already have the Lucas, go ahead and use it but I wouldn't continue to waste money on "miracle fixes".
