Engine swap help
Im looking at buy a 1991 Mustang from a buddy. It has the 2.3 engine with a 5 speed. I will drive it as is for now but plan on one day in the near future (if I buy it) putting in a 289, 351 windsor,or a 429. How hard is the engine swap in these cars and is there anywhere you can buy a kit to do the swap? What all needs changed?Any info would be great. Thanks
it sounds like your going to go carbed which is way easier. i would go 351 or 429. rule out the 289. it was a great motor but still. i know with the 351w you need the following...
1. motor mounts 302 and 351w are the same block.
2.double hump trans crossmember.
3. oil pan depending on where the 351w came from.if it came from a truck youll be good.
4. swap headers.shorts or longs its up to you and the wallet.
off the top thats all i can think of.
what tranny are you going to run?
5. 8.8 rearend wouldn't hurt but you can rock the 7.5 till it breaks.
