Default clutch question

my clutch seems to catch about mid range, but all my friends (who drive non american cars) say there clutches catch alot lower than mine, and mine feels wierd, and also its the highest of the three pedals.....is this normal for all stangs?

mine catches fairly high.

2 things you can do: 1) buy an adjustable clutch cable/quadrant. 1, its stronger than stock, and 2, you can adjust it to where you want it to engage. and 2) you can also "adjust" it by pushing it to the floor 3/4 times when youre sittin still. push on it like you normally do when you shift into first. and just let it out. do that 3 or 4 times. and voila. adjusted(somewhat)

yes they are supposed to be self adjusting but it's got a VERY limited range.

It's normal for mustang clutches to hook a fair distance from the floor.....actually, as your clutch wears, it will catch lower - you need to push the pedal further to get it to work.

My clutch is also the highest of the pedals.

If you are really concerned, go to a tranny shop, they will be able to drive it and tell you if it's good or not. For free.

It's normal. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Remember there isn't any free play or next to none in the late model stangs. It's not like years ago when clutches were adjusted by setting an amount of freeplay. Back then the clutches would grab with the pedal a lot further down.
