Red face Weird electrical problem

Was driving my car (87 5.0) all day on Sunday. Got into her on Monday and everything seemed normal, but when i turned the key....nothing. It was like the battery just wasn't there. Got some advice from Checker about the ignition switch. I thought for 17 Bucks what the heck. I replaced it and nothing. Had the Battery checked and that was good too. Also replaced the positive cable (kind of crappy looking) The only thing i haven't replaced yet is the solenoid and the neg cable.

Please help. It took me 3 Months to get the car running and now I am stumped. Hope it is something very simple that I'm missing and you get a good laugh out of my stupidity.

Do your lights work? Is this an automatic? If so, then maybe neutral switch. Try it in neutral.

5 Speed. No the lights don't work. Nothing is working. Not even the dome light or the door chime. Kind of like the battery is not even there.

I would look at the fusible links then. There are a few of them coming off the starter relay. Make sure they are not broken. Pull on them and you can tell if they are bad, they'll be real soft in the middle.

Got her started. Turned out that there was a separate ground wire under the battery that had come disconnected. Stepman thanks for all of the reply s and help. During this process of hide and seek with the electrical system i learned a lot. This site has been a wealth of great "think outside of the box" ideas.

Good to hear you are up and running again. You will discover that most issues are caused by simple things that are often overlooked.
